“I've been a fan of the Midnight Blue big band since its inception. For years people have been saying that jazz, and particularly big band music, is dead. The number of community and professional big bands around the world is proof positive that there is no truth to that, and groups like the Midnight Blue band keep the flame alive and stoke the fire. Whether it be a concert or a dance, the Midnight Blue band never fails to entertain. I wish them a long successful future.”

“Midnight Blue traveled to Yellowknife, NWT for the inaugural Longshadow Music Festival in June of 2019. They were an incredible group of musicians to host - always ready to take part in other moments of the festival, very curious about traveling North, generous with their time + talents, and were fantastic on stage! Yellowknife's exposure to big bands + swing bands has waxed + waned over the decades, and the performance of the Midnight Blue Jazz Society at one of the Festival's Feature Concerts was a welcome and fresh sound to many ears in the audience. The 2019 Longshadow Music Festival focused on ideas of improvisation, and the Festival's mandate is to celebrate music being made today with a deep nod to the histories + traditions of different genres. So to have the full Midnight Blue crew onstage bringing music from the jazz traditions was a perfect fit.”

“The Midnight Blue Jazz Society made our second annual Gala event. Having a 17 piece set up was a great first impression to those that attended. Our floor was easily filled as soon as the music fired up. One girl at our event never left the dancefloor. Young, old it didn’t matter, people were dancing. The sound filled the room and the band’s set up added to the ambiance of our special night. From set up to takedown the members of the Midnight Blue Jazz Society were professionals. They really made a big part of our night one of the easiest parts of the night. We can’t thank or wag our pet therapy tails at them enough. Thank you to every single member of the band!”
