Deb Watson President/alto saxophone
I was born in Saskatchewan and lived on a farm until my family moved to the big city of Regina when I was 11 years old. I started playing the clarinet in Grade 6 and continued playing though high school (I was a Marian girl!). Some great experiences with the band included travelling to Chicago, participating in the Moose Jaw International Band Festival, and partaking in the Grey Cup Parade and half time show in Vancouver. After watching a band performing at Spruce Meadows, I realized I missed playing in a band and; at the same time was developing an interest in jazz music. I started taking saxophone lessons, joined Westwinds Music Society, and co-founded Midnight Blue Jazz Society. I am an avid sports fan – the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Maple Leafs break my heart on a regular basis. My husband, John plays the trumpet in Midnight Blue Jazz Society, and we are fortunate to be able to share this amazing experience. We love golfing with our two sons, hiking, cycling, supporting the arts, and are forever grateful to live in this wonderful city minutes from the incredible Rocky Mountains.
